Island Lake Reservoir, Duluth Minnesota fishing tournament results.
Ultimate Angler Challenge fishing tournament.
Wow the weather made this more of a challenge then we anticipated, but the teams still brought in some nice fish. The Island Lake Reservoir has lots of great fishing, usually great weather and always great people. Sunday, June 17, 2007 saw us launching out of the public launch on the West side of the lake from the dam. Isolated Thunderstorms were passing the lake on the west, then one turned and was right on the lake. The teams had to beach and wait it out for over an hour. Once things were safe to proceed, the event was back on its way, shortened by about an hour of time while waiting for Mother Nature to clear the air.
At the end of the event , the winners were Ross Korpela and Pat Day (photo) with a four species bag including limits of northern pike, smallmouth bass, and rock bass, plus a big perch. Second place went to the Michalski brothers of John and Jeff, with a 5 species bag including a 31.75 inch northern pike and a limit of bluegills. Third place went to father and son team of Ouitdee and Bob Carson of Duluth with a nice five species bag.
Everyone was a great sport and had fun out fishing. I hope everything has dried out by now.
Congratulations to everyone and especially Pat Day and Ross Korpela, see ya at Hill Lake in Hill City in four weeks.
